To christians and fellow athiests?

Ok, so I am athiest, but I have a christian friend and we were debating how the earth began and how old it was and when i heard his response, i was flabergasted! He said the earth was 6,000-10,000 years old and adam and eve walked with the dinosaurs and they went extinct because they were too big to fit on the ark.Now I tried to inform him the dating puts the earth at 4.5 billion years old and the universe at 13.4 but he was dead set on what he believed!I mean, we can measure the shock waves from the big bang in space.When i asked him about early man bones(cavemen) he said,"the devil did it".This is why I can't debate with some people grr. How about yalls opinion?
