What is the best match-up against the Giants in Madden 09?

A friend of mine keeps playing with the Giants and it's almost impossible to beat him. On p plays his p rush makes me throw a lot of interceptions if I don't get sacked and if I run the ball, he always spotlights my halfback and covers the outsides. whenever I try to run through the middle his blitzes get me. when I'm on defense he uses quick slants a lot and using the same formation he also runs the ball through the middle a lot. how can i tell which one of these two he is calling? on long p attempts his receivers catch everything, even if i use double coverage and they break free a lot. Any advice?
