What ID do I need to get on a flight..?

I'm 17, and i'm traveling alone, out of Midway (Chicago) on Airtran this week. I don't have my license yet, i could get it if i REALLY need it though. Will my school ID be enough (with my driving permit so i have a birthdate with it) to get on the plane? Or do i need a real, government ID?
