Airbus A380 with RR Trent 900 engine. Did QANTAS ignore this directive and nearly have a disaster?

It is the same scenario as the concord. not paying enough attention to detail. In the cutthroat world of aviation money talks, so airlines try to go that extra mile before they lay out a few hundred thousand pounds on a rebuild. Most probably the chief mechanic thought the tolerances were within safety limits,( bye the bye ) I believe maintenance here is done by B.A. if so I am sure that they would have said something to Qantas, about the possible risk.If so is there a cavalier attitude at Qantas towards its pengers.
